There is so much more to being fit than food and exercise!! This is why I felt led to include a section on finances. Most of our daily stress which can lead to over eating can also be linked to over spending!!
Remember… how we do anything is how we do EVERYTHING!!! I am a huge fan of Dave Ramsey. He gives sound advice based on biblical principles that are tried and true! The following is directly from his site www.daveramsey.com this is a great place to start!
Just as there are laws and science behind weight loss so too are their laws that govern money. If you are living paycheck to paycheck it’s time to CLAIM YOUR POWER over your finances beginning with Step One.
Baby Step 1: $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund
“An emergency fund is for those unexpected events in life that you can’t plan for: the loss of a job, an unexpected pregnancy, a faulty car transmission, and the list goes on and on. It’s not a matter of if these events will happen; it’s simply a matter of when they will happen.”
I remember when my husband and I first got married; I was working at a hair salon and he was a full time student. Needless to say there was no money at the end of the month. Both of us had many life lessons during these young years on the importance of the emergency fund. It’s a funny thing how this law works.. sure enough when we had no money in reserve things broke down, unexpected bills occurred and life was hard. When we decided to start an emergency fund it seemed almost overnight we had less tension and life was a little less stressful.
I know $1,000.00 may seem like an unattainable amount yet I encourage you to work away at putting a little aside each pay check. Or!! Better yet, go through your “stuff” and see what you can sell. Take that money and put in in your emergency fund. Whatever it takes, get an extra job, give up your Starbucks, find a home-based opportunity.. and with urgency start an emergency fund!
