My fears began at a very young age of 4. I remember vividly the scene from a horror movie. I am sure it was not intentional that I was in view of it however I was and remember it clearly to this day. I also remember having nightmares about it as I began to fear what may be under my bed or in my closet. This was the first attack on my mind from the enemy that held me captive for nearly 4 decades.

The interesting thing about images and memories that get stuck in your mind is that they can be triggered unexpectedly and without even realizing where it came from many years after the event. However what is more profound is the origination of the fear itself and its ability to multiply itself.

Ephesians 6:12

“For we wrestle not against the flesh and blood but against principalities, powers and rulers of darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places.

Understand that the spirit of fear is real however it wants nothing more than to rule your imagination and with each memory your ability to imagine builds. It breeds itself in your mind. Soon you are creating scenarios based on previous experience that you forget what’s actually reality. When this happens the enemy has you where he wants you. Its like a bad weed that grows. The bible actually refers to fear as a spirit and soon this spirit through you will begin to seek and attract things that feed it. Things that cause you more fear…So you watch more scary movies, read horror novels, have your phone on alert for CNN updates of world terror and develop unhealthy relationships…ect.  Unless you are set free with the truth!

The truth is this, “God did not give you a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind” 2 Timothy 1:7

God also tells us “Fear not for I have redeemed YOU! With an everlasting love..” It was through Jesus THE everlasting love that you can have victory over ever fear! He won this battle long ago and gave us the power through the Holy Spirit to WIN every single time!

When I let this truth really sink into my soul, that is the day my fear turned to fierce. Why fierce? Because fear is a real enemy. It is a spirit in this world that we must be on the offence of or it will rule you and steal your joy.

How you react to fear is what will set you free! It has been a struggle most of my life to get through a day without a fearful thought. What if this or that.. walking on eggshells, believing lies, not able to trust and never feeling good enough. I used to react with worry and allow the fears to rule even how I felt physically and emotionally.

I overcame with the understanding that I had to verbally tell this spirit of fear it no longer was welcome and begin to fill my mind with positive, loving, kind and beautiful thoughts. I began to use the weapons we have been given which is praise, thanksgiving and using the Word of God. I began to use the power of the blood of Jesus to fight!!!
